Family Inclusion

Family Inclusion

The Saint Lucia CIP allows for broad family reunification under a clearly delineated dependent framework. These rules, recently liberalized, now align closely with global best practices and regional competitors.

Eligible Dependents:

  1. Spouse or Civil Partner: Legally married or in a legally recognized domestic partnership. Same-sex partners are eligible where documented by local laws.
  2. Children:
    • Biological or legally adopted children of the main applicant or spouse.
    • Under 21 if not enrolled in education; up to 30 if enrolled full-time at a recognized institution.

  3. Parents & Grandparents:
    • No age minimum as of 2025.
    • No proof of financial dependency now required under revised regulations.

  4. Siblings:
    • Under 18, unmarried, and with parental consent.
    • Must be a legal ward or under guardianship of the applicant.

Documentation & Financial Requirements

  • Proof of Relationship: Birth certificates, marriage or civil partnership registration, legal adoption papers (as applicable).
  • Medical Certificates: All dependents must undergo health screening.
  • Police Clearance: Required for all applicants 16 and over.

Strategic Planning for Families

Adding family members at the outset is generally more cost-effective, as post-approval additions incur higher due diligence fees and require a separate application. However, applicants seeking to stagger inclusion for tax, travel, or privacy reasons may opt to add spouses or adult children later. Advisors should consider potential tuition planning, succession structuring, and travel access when advising clients on optimal timing.
