Family Inclusion

Family Inclusion

Portugal’s Golden Visa program permits broad family reunification, allowing the main applicant to include qualifying dependents under a single investment umbrella. Eligible dependents include:

  • A legally married spouse or partner in a recognized civil union.
  • Children under 18 years of age.
  • Children under 26, provided they are unmarried, financially dependent, and enrolled in full-time education.
  • Dependent parents of the main applicant or spouse, subject to financial support documentation.

Inclusion of dependents requires comprehensive documentation, including birth certificates, school enrollment confirmations, affidavits of financial support, and, in certain cases, proof of shared residence. All documents must be officially translated into Portuguese and legalized via apostille or consular verification.

From a strategic planning standpoint, it is highly advisable to include all eligible dependents during the initial application process. Adding family members at a later stage may require new biometrics, duplicated legal efforts, and non-trivial administrative costs. Additionally, children close to the age threshold should be factored into timing strategies to prevent exclusion based on procedural delays.
